Attualmente allo Sheffield United, José Baxter è il più giovane calciatore ad aver debuttato nell'Everton e tra i primi 5 in tutta la Premier. Nel 2009 è stato arrestato per possesso di marijuana e banconote false, mentre lo scorso agosto è stato squalificato per 12 mesi perché positivo a droghe pesanti (cocaina secondo il Daily Mail).
